The South Central Washington Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D) Council is dedicated to the conservation of natural resources for the benefit of local communities.  We do this by forming partnerships with other local organizations to gather resources needed to solve problems in the areas we currently serve: Kittitas, Yakima, Benton, Klickitat, and Skamania counties.  The RC&D council is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization.  We provide many services to the community such as:

  • Technical assistance, education, and training to support land use practices that protect the region’s natural resources.
  • Foster partnerships that result in on-the-ground projects to address community needs.
  • Assist organizations through grant writing and administration, facilitation, technical guidance, and planning.
  • Develop regional goals and action plans through our annual and area planning process.  This is done through local leader and public participation to identify high priority community and natural resource needs.

The RC&D program is about forming partnerships and providing assistance to Make Things Happen!  We strive to improve the quality of our community through Natural Resource Conservation and Community Development projects.  Our Board of Directors and Sponsors are made up of local residents and groups who understand the unique needs of our communities. Our Sponsors include:

  • Cities
  • Counties
  • Tribes
  • Conservation Districts
  • Non-Profit Groups
  • Local NGOs
  • Other Local Groups

The RC&D program was created in the 1960s with the goal of making a true difference on the ground and in our communities.  We are known nationally for being able to get things done!  We encourage everyone to get involved in your local RC&D council. Contact Us to find out how!
